My formative years were spent in the great state of Texas doing the things that I would learn later made me into a stereotype. I played piano, violin and viola and yes, I was - and still am - good at math. I studied at the University of Texas at Austin only to get a degree in English with a very helpful minor in Spanish. I headed onwards to South Texas College of Law where I obtained my JD and then went out into the world to do what I most wanted to do - litigate cases. Unfortunately, the opportunities to go to trial were few and far between and that is when I started auditioning for shows in local Houston theatres. For almost five years I juggled my "day job" as a lawyer with my theatre work and other acting jobs (like my stint as an extra in Office Space or my nationwide ITT Technical Institute commercial - "I love Mondays!"). A much needed sabbatical from the practice of law combined with my admittance into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts summer conservatory brought me to New York. Having discovered the means by which a lawyer not licensed in New York can make a viable living in Manhattan, I stayed. I currently am the Executive Director of an off-off Broadway theatrical production company - Phare Play Productions - that I founded with my business partner, Blake Bradford. In addition to producing, I have discovered the joy that is directing and have had the opportunity to direct such fantastic shows like The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged], Carl the Second and the premiere of Fragments, authored by my husband, Michael Weems. I still maintain my legal licenses in Texas and California and have just recently learned that I passed the bar exam here in New York. I work in midtown doing corporate work - not a bad way to pay the bills in this city. I live in Manhattan with my amazing husband Michael and our very active son, Thomas with another one on the way early next year. A couple of random facts about me: I am an avid poker player - Texas Hold 'Em and I'm learning Omaha. I played in the ladies event of the World Series of Poker two years ago, but sadly, did not finish in the money. I have made one final table at a tournament though! I am a huge University of Texas football fan. I took figure skating lessons when I was in law school because I was bored, but had to stop once we got to the spin because of my issues with motion sickness. I am a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. I have a log that lists every book I have read since my senior year of high school. I have the most amazing and supportive group of friends and family that a person could ever ask for. Thanks to them all, especially my lovely husband and son for their support.
